Supermarket Snack Shopping

After todays exciting frisbee we went for a wander around the area. We found a Japanese Supermarket and went inside where we found these cute little trolleys. We pushed it around and looked at all the different food and drink. The snack aisle was very popular with us! We want to try as many different Japanese snacks while we are here so we bought up big. Our current favourites are little chocolate mushrooms, pocky (pretzel sticks coated in chocolate or pink stuff), chocolate almonds and saku saku panda (cute little chocolate covered biscuits with different facial expressions like Tiny Teddies). It was interesting to see how the check system works. They put everything from your trolley into a basket, then scan it and place it into another basket. You then take it over to a packing station with plastic bags to pack yourself. You always have to place the money on a little tray not just hand it over. Mum tried to practise saying thank you in Japanese but instead said 'ogenki desu ka' which means how are you! Good try Mum...good to see you are remembering and using Japanese (even if it's not used in context!).

Today's word: Konbanwa (Good evening)
